Pengalaman Keluarga dalam Merawat Lanjut Usia dengan Diabetes Mellitus

Abstract

Merawat lansia DM menimbulkan dampak terhadap fisik, emosi, sosial dan ekonomi. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mendapatkan pemahaman yang mendalam tentang arti dan makna pengalaman keluarga dalam merawat lansia DM di kota Tasikmalaya, Jawa Barat. Penelitian fenomenologi deskriptif ini melibatkan delapan partisipan yaitu caregiver  utama lansia DM yang didapatkan dengan teknik criterion sampling. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara mendalam dan catatan lapangan yang dianalisis dengan menerapkan metoda Collaizi. Hasil penelitian ini menemukan tema kemampuan keluarga  dalam  melaksanakan tugas kesehatan keluarga, respon  psikologis, respon  fisik, respon terhadap  ekonomi dan  respon terhadap peran keluarga. Respon keluarga selama merawat kesehatan lansia dengan DM diantaranya ditunjukan dengan kemampuan melaksanakan tugas kesehatan keluarga, adanya masalah psikologis, masalah fisik dan masalah ekonomi. Penelitian lebih lanjut tentang faktor yang memengaruhi respon keluarga dalam merawat lansia dengan DM perlu dilakukan.


Abstract

Family Experiences in Caring for Elderly with Diabetes Melitus. Experience in caring for elderly with DM adversely affect our physical, emotional, social and economic. The aim of this study was to explore the experience of family in caring elderly with DM in Tasikmalaya City, West Java. This qualitative descriptive phenomenology study involved eight family caregivers who care for elderly with DM as participants which selected by criterion sampling. Data was collected by in-depth interview and field notes which was analyzed by applying Collaizi’s method. The result of study identified themes, the ability to carry out the health task of family,  psychological response,  physical response, economic response and  response of role in family. This study recommended the need Further research on the factors that affect the response of the family in caring for the elderly with diabetes.
