Abstract
Angka kejadian flebitis di Rumah Sakit masih cukup tinggi dan meningkat setiap tahunnya, padahal angka ini merupakan salah satu indikator mutu pelayanan RS. Pengetahuan dan perilaku perawat dalam pencegahan flebitis penting untuk menurunkan angka kejadian flebitis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan tingkat pengetahuan perawat tentang terapi intravena dengan perilaku pencegahan flebitis (mekanik, kimia, dan bakterial). Penelitian deskriptif analitik dengan pendekatan cross sectional ini melibatkan 101 perawat ruang rawat inap yang dipilih dengan teknik stratified random sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah kuesioner tentang pengetahuan terapi intravena dan perilaku pencegahan flebitis (r Alpha=0.657). Data dianalisis menggunakan uji chi square. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ada hubungan antara tingkat pengetahuan perawat tentang terapi intravena dan perilaku pencegahan flebitis bakterial (p<0.001; OR=5.23, CI 95% 1.9-13.8). Peningkatan pengetahuan perawat tentang terapi intravena melalui pelatihan dan ronde keperawatan perlu diprogramkan secara teratur.

The Knowledge the incidence of phlebitis is one indicator of good hospital care. Nurses’ knowledge and behavioral prevention are important to reduce incidence of phlebitis. This study aimed to determine the relationship among level of knowledge about intravenous therapy and nurses’ characteristics (age, education, employment, training, and unit where they work) and behavioral prevention of phlebitis. This descriptive analytic study used cross sectional approach and involved 101 ward’s nurses that were selected by stratified random sampling technique. The instrument used was validated questionnaires on knowledge of intravenous therapy and behavioral prevention of phlebitis (r Alpha = 0.657). Data were analyzed using chi square tests. The results showed relationship between the level of nurses' knowledge of intravenous therapy and behavioral prevention of bacterial phlebitis (p<0.001; OR=5.23 CI 95% 1.9-13.8). It is recommended to increase nurses' knowledge of intravenous therapy through training and nursing rounds more regularly programmed.
